TV advertising forms

There are many different types of TV advertising formats. Some of the most common are:

  • Spot Advertising: this is the most common form of TV advertising, where a short commercial message is aired during an interruption in the program.

  • Product placement: this involves placing a product or brand within the program to draw viewers' attention to the product.

  • Infomercials: These are longer, promotional programs, typically lasting 30 minutes to an hour, that advertise a specific product or service.

  • Sponsorship: this is a form of advertising where a company funds the program and in return receives the right to promote its brand or products in connection with the program.

  • Pre-Roll Ads: These ads are played before the actual video content.

  • Banner advertising: Here, banners and graphics are inserted during the program in order to arouse the viewers' interest.

  • Teleshopping: This is a form of home shopping in which products are offered during the TV broadcast.

  • Split-screen advertising: The advertising is split into two parts on the screen and one half is used to show advertising while the other half continues to show the program.

  • Pop-up ads: these are small windows that open while watching TV and show advertisements.

  • Lower-Third-Ads: This form of advertising is an overlay in the lower third of the screen that shows advertising.

There are many more types of TV ads, but these are some of the most commonly used forms.
